The CENIEH Library is a point of reference within its field due to its excellent range of bibliographic resources. Among the resources available, its own collection is particularly noteworthy, with over 3,000 monographs and the possibility of accessing digital resources (journals, electronic books and scientific databases) related to the Center’s lines of research: Economic and Spatial Archeology, Biostratigraphy and Biochronology, Geoarcheology, Geochronology, Quaternary Geology, Geomorphology, Paleophysiology of Hominins, Paleoecology, Prehistoric Technology.
By virtue of the collaboration agreement signed with the University of Burgos (UBU), the collections available at the CENIEH Library can be consulted through the general catalog of the Library of the University of Burgos. This catalog makes databases available to users and provides them with the possibility of searching for and acquiring other relevant information and documentation.
The CENIEH Library also has a large number of national and international journals, as well as the complete collection of cartographical Geology material on a scale of 1:50.000, published by the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME).
The Library and Scientific Documentation service provides and manages documentation and bibliographic information to support research in areas related to human evolution. It provides its services to the center’s staff and to the general public through the following services:
INFORMATION AND CONSULTATION
The Library service provides information to users with regards to their needs in the following areas:
- Bibliographic and bibliometric searches through the different databases available.
- Guidance on the use of scientific databases.
- Information on the use of bibliographic managers.
- Training in any of the matters related to our services.
READING ROOM
The CENIEH Library has 18 reading stations in its reading room where its collections can be freely consulted, classified in accordance with the UDC system. Likewise, users can access the Internet at 4 stations to consult different catalogs and digital resources.
LOAN SERVICE
The following loan policy is in place in terms of time limits and copies:
- CENIEH staff or associate staff: 15 documents, 90 days.
- Members of the UBU University Community: 3 documents, 15 days.
- Individuals who do not pertain to CENIEH and UBU: on-site consultation of documents.
The following are excluded from the loan service: reference works (encyclopedias, dictionaries, bibliographies, catalogs, directories, etc.), special materials due to their age, value or use, cartographical material and unpublished research works.
INTERLIBRARY LOAN SERVICE
This service provides center staff with documents that are not available within our collections. We collaborate with national and international libraries through the Library of the University of Burgos.
BIBLIOGRAPHIC SEARCHES
The bibliographic search service provides support to users who wish to obtain bibliographic references on any subject or matter.
BIBLIOMETRIC SEARCHES
Likewise, the Library service is responsible for drawing up bibliometric reports and for advising researchers when preparing their CV for research results assessment, project requests, etc.
NEWSLETTER
The Bibliographic Newsletter informs users about the latest documents added to the CENIEH library, which are physically located in the Library’s section dedicated to new documents.
REPROGRAPHY
Reproduction and digitization of internal materials in accordance with intellectual property regulations.
