Cecilia García Campos
Affiliated researcher. Paleobiology Program
Cecilia García Campos holds a Ph.D. in Palaeoanthropology from the University of Burgos. She has been part of the research team at the Sierra de Atapuerca sites since 2014. She is currently developing her line of research as an associate researcher at the CENIEH. She carries out activities related to the study of the presence of sexually dimorphic traits (those that differentiate male and female individuals) in the dentition of current and past populations. The most relevant results of their work have consisted of the development of a new methodology for sex estimation based on the study of the dimensions of the dental tissues of the canines (enamel and dentine). This methodology presents an efficiency of 92.3% in sex estimation and can be of special relevance in the case of infant individuals and palaeoanthropological samples.
