The 12th Iberian Congress of Archaeometry taking place in Burgos this year will kick off the call for abstracts

The CENIEH together with the Society of Archaeometry Applied to the Cultural Heritage (SAPaC), will host the biennial congress of the Iberian community of archaeometry from 25th to 27th January, 2017

The Centro Nacional de Investigación sobre la Evolución Humana (CENIEH) and the Society of Archaeometry Applied to the Cultural Heritage (SAPaC) will jointly organize the 12th Iberian Congress of Archaeometry, to be held October 25th to 27th 2017. This biennial meeting will gather the Iberian community of archaeometry with the aim of discussing the latest technological advancements and their possible applications to the material study of the artifacts belonging to the historical, archaeological and cultural heritage.

The call for abstracts will remain open until April 7th. This represents the preliminary stage of an event which will gather over 50 experts, in the aim of promoting a space for exchange and discussion for the research groups in the Iberian Peninsula addressing thematic axes such as: material analysis (ceramics, glass, pigments, metals, lithic materials, biomaterials); dating; physical prospecting and remote sensing; built heritage, preservation and restoration; and image analysis, 3D-scanning and computed tomography.

If you are interested in presenting orally or by poster, you may send your abstracts in Spanish or Portuguese, according to the standards published on the event website: cia2017.com. You may follow the news and activities related to the 12th edition of this meeting both on the website mentioned above and on the Twitter account of the Congress, @CiaXII.

Since the creation of the Society of Archaeometry Applied to the Cultural Heritage (SAPaC) in 1997 (we are celebrating its 20th anniversary this year), there has been a growing interest in Archaeometry.  This has allowed us to hold an edition of the congress every other year; the last one having taken place in Evora (Portugal).
