The CENIEH laboratories resume services to the scientific, technological and industrial community

As a Unique Scientific and Technological Infrastructure (ICTS), it is the goal of the CENIEH to place its facilities at the disposal of the entire R+D+i community through Competitive Open Access calls, such as that which reopens today for the Microscopy and Micro-Computed Tomography Laboratory

From today, the Centro Nacional de Investigación sobre la Evolución Humana (CENIEH) is resuming its services to the scientific, technological and industrial community in full, with the reopening of the official periods for access to the Microscopy and Micro-Computed Tomography Laboratory through the competitive access call MI2020-I which was suspended because of the state of alarm.

As a Research Center belonging to the national network of Unique Science and Technical Infrastructures (ICTS). the goal of the CENIEH is to place its cutting-edge facilities at the disposal of the entire R+D+i community and offer an opening capacity percentage of its essential services under Competitive Open Access for the use of national and international public and private sector researchers, with the support of technical and administrative personnel of the CENIEH itself.

“Access for use of the infrastructure is governed by a public access protocol, set out in the call we reopen today for the Microscopy and Micro-Computed Tomography Laboratory, which will remain open to receive requests for a period of 2 weeks, by means of the User Office”, states María Isabel Sarró, Laboratory Manager at the CENIEH.

Entry into service

On May 14th, the laboratories embarked on maintenance tasks, turning equipment on and conducting initial calibration and commissioning tests with the first objective of concluding the work which had been paralyzed by the COVID-19 situation. In addition, efforts began to prepare the equipment and material necessary for field excavations and excursions, which it is hoped to be able to undertake as soon as the public health conditions allow.
