Song Xing, professor at the Department of Paleoanthropology, Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology (IVPP), Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Song Xing is graduated from IVPP in 2012, and specialized in studies of dental morphology and dental development using morphometrics, micro-CT, and synchrotron scanning. He and colleagues from CENIEH carried out a series of studies on dental morphologies of East Asian Middle Pleistocene Homo erectus and late Middle Pleistocene non-erectus Homo, and summarized a set of diagnostic dental traits in East Asian ancient population. In addition, Xing and his colleagues revealed an early appearance of modern-like dental development in an archaic Homo from East Asian late Middle Pleistocene.

Xing is currently working on the emergence and dispersal of early modern human in southern China and investigated many caves in Guangxi district.
