Once again this year, the ALBA Synchrotron is collaborating with the Ratón Pérez Campaign and will collect milk teeth during its open day on May 20th. The CENIEH will do the same in September, around the celebration of European Researchers' Night
The tenth edition of the Ratón Pérez Tooth Collection campaign starts in Barcelona on Saturday May 20th during the open day at the ALBA Synchrotron, which over 2000 people are expected to attend. This ICTS in Catalonia is collaborating once more with the Centro Nacional de Investigación sobre la Evolución Humana (CENIEH), as it did in 2019, by collecting milk teeth at its headquarters in Cerdanyola del Vallès.
The teeth to be collected over the open day, which takes place from 9 am to 7 pm, will become part of the Ratón Pérez Collection (RP Collection), which is destined for paleoanthropological, forensic, odontological, and other studies, and open to the whole scientific community.
As now required by tradition, in exchange for their dental piece, each donor will receive a souvenir and a diploma as an assistant of Ratón Pérez, in addition to merchandise from the Casita Museo del Ratón Pérez.
Ever since 2014
The tooth collection campaigns have been jointly organized in Burgos since 2014 by the CENIEH Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+I) and its Dental Anthropology Group, thanks to sponsorship by the Fundación “la Caixa” and the Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT) – Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación.
This year's campaign in Burgos will run from September 25th through 29th, to coincide with the celebration of European Researchers' Night 2023.
