Hongliang Lu holds a Bachelor's degree in Geology from Peking University, China. Since 2020, he has been pursuing his Ph.D. at Peking University with a specialization in paleomagnetism. In 2024, he joined CENIEH as a one-year visiting student under the guidance of Professor Josep Mª Parés Casanova, conducting research on two topics: 1) Utilizing magnetic fabric and crystal preferred orientation to assess the reliability of paleomagnetic data derived from Upper Cretaceous redbeds in the Lhasa Terrane. 2) Establishing an astronomically tuned geomagnetic polarity timescale for terrestrial Permian-Triassic sections in Xinjiang and North China. Furthermore, he is also interested in tectonic paleomagnetism, the paleointensity of geomagnetic fields, and environmental magnetism.
