Ana Álvarez Fernández holds a degree in Humanities from the University of Burgos and a Master's in Human Evolution from the University of Burgos and the University of Alcalá. She earned her PhD in 2023 from the University of Burgos, the University of Alcalá, and the University of Oviedo, where she conducted a functional study on the Mousterian lithic assemblages from the sites of Galería de las Estatuas (Sierra de Atapuerca, Burgos) and Abrigo de Navalmaíllo (Pinilla del Valle, Madrid). Her specialty is the traceological analysis of lithic industries made from various types of raw materials, both qualitatively and quantitatively. She is currently a technician on the ERC-2021-ADG TIED2TEETH project led by Dr. Leslea J. Hlusko.
