Uranium Series Dating SU2025-I

Opens call is now open for the Uranium Series Laboratory SU2025-I. The purpose of this call is to support research through the use of the available analytical instrumentation and to regulate the submission of service requests for this laboratory.

The 2025 call will cover:

The use and application of MC ICP-MS for the determination of uranium and thorium, as well as natural isotopic ratios, for the dating of pristine carbonates and non-porous Pleistocene fossils.

The call anticipates the processing of 40 samples between December 2025 and July 2026. Proposals should preferably include a maximum of 40 samples per application.

Samples must be received by the 15th of December 2025 or 30 days after the resolution of the call. Final results will be communicated no later than July 2026, depending on the arrival date of the samples at the laboratory, their typology, and characteristics.

• Accepted proposals within this call will be subject to "Fee A," as established in the general rates.

• To submit your proposal, register at the User Office, fill out the "Competitive Access" tab, and select code SU2025-I.

Request for Uranium Series Dating SU2025-I

In the User Office application form, include the following information in the "General Information" section, or attach it as part of the application:

• If samples have already been collected and related information.

• Number of samples.

• Detailed description of the test items, including photos if possible.

• Estimated age range.

• Purpose of age determination.

• Description of the context where the samples were collected.

• If known, indicate the concentration of uranium and thorium, and potential compounds that could affect the final result (presence of debris or organic matter and level, suspicion of other mineral compounds besides CaCO3, etc.).

• Location of samples, archaeological site, etc.

• Any other information considered relevant for the proposal evaluation.

It will also be necessary to provide a concise CV (in any format) of the applicant and/or collaborators.

Applications will be evaluated by an external committee to CENIEH.
