Silviu Constantin

Silviu Constantin is a geologist engineer with a PhD in Geology from the University of Bucharest (Romania). He worked as a researcher in speleology at the Emil Racovita Institute of Speleology in Bucharest for almost 30 years. He is specialized in U-series dating, and has worked extensively on speleothems from Romania and elsewhere since the late 1990s. In the last decades he was leading multidisciplinary teams in cave excavations aiming at paleoclimate and paleoenvironmental reconstructions based on taphonomical and stratigraphical settings. He was one of the co-PIs of the Pestera cu Oase, Pestera Ursilor, and other paleontological cave sites. He worked as a Prometeo Fellow in the karst of Ecuadorian Amazonia (2015) and as a Fulbright Fellow at the Neptune Isotope Lab, University of Miami.
