The geologist Professor Dr. Alfredo Pérez-González has become the new director of the CENIEH since 1st January 2013. Replacing former director José María Bermúdez de Castro, who will devote himself back to research as the coordinator fo the Paleobiology of Hominins Program, Pérez-González has been appointed director for an initial period of two years extendable for two more years.

His top range career as a researcher and manager of research institutions, as well as his deep knowledge of the most relevant archaeological sites all over the world are undeniable assets that will be of much value for leading the CENIEH´s team in the coming years. This is a challenge he is willing to undertake.
