The Centro Nacional de Investigación sobre la Evolución Humana (CENIEH) is alongside CSIC one of the Spanish organizations participating in the new European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science (E-RIHS), whose aims are to connect researchers across related fields and to foster a trans-disciplinary culture of exchange and cooperation while offering access to a wide range of cutting-edge facilities, state-of-the-art scientific instruments, common methodologies, data and tools for advancing knowledge and innovation in the study and preservation of heritage.
This is an initiative that will offer many possibilities for the scientists and technicians at CENIEH, which will greatly increase its international visibility, since E-RIHS brings together 18 countries as founding members, 10 potential international countries as supporting partners and over 80 institutions.
ESFRI Roadmap
The new research infrastructure was included in the 2016 roadmap of the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI). This means that E-RIHS is considered a long term strategic infrastructure for the European research community. CENIEH was already listed on the national Research Infrastructure map (Unique Science and Technology Infrastructures, ICTS by its Spanish initials), it now also becomes part of the European mapping ESFRI, contributing in the field of Paleoanthropology.
