This morning Marta Ruiz, project researcher from HELCOM, a Finnish organization to protect the marine environment of the Baltic Sea from all sources of pollution, has visited the premises of CENIEH, where she has been able to discover the potential of the labs of microscopy and sedimentology, as well as the labs equipped with atomic spectrometers for future collaborations.
These collaborations between both European organizations could include researches and development of methods for water treatment, especially characterization of microplastics and nanoparticles in sea water and sewage, i.e. sea litter, and their impact on the marine environment.
