Paleokarst and Sedimentary fillings

This line of research studies caves,  great natural traps, accumulating detritus, rock chemicals and organic matter. These cave sediment fillings comprise some of the richest and most varied deposits in continental environments, and they tend to be preserved over geological history.

Therefore, karstic sediments retain information about the environmental conditions at the moment of formation of the karstification surface, and the changes at later times.
