Conservation and Restoration Laboratory support Technician

Sofía is a Conservator-Restorer of Archaeological and Paleontological Heritage (ESCRBC Madrid). She holds a Master’s Degree in Underwater and Nautical Archaeology from Cádiz University. She worked at the Museo Arqueológico Regional of Madrid as Assistant Conservator-Restorer. Since 2015 she has been working at the Sierra de Atapuerca sites. Likewise, she is experienced in field working at sites as Albalat (Cáceres), Pinilla del Valle (Madrid), Ahijones (Madrid), Ermita de San Bernabé (Burgos); and underwater sites as La Ballenera (Algeciras) or Illes Formigues II (Girona). Between 2019-2021 she was an Assistant Technician at the Conservation and Restoration Laboratory at CENIEH; through the open application PEJ2018-002884-P. Currently, she is a Conservator-Restorer Technician at the mentioned laboratory. She carries out the safeguarding, conservation and restoration of the center’s collections as well as other national and international projects.
