The CENIEH Comparative Anatomy Osteological Collection includes specimens belonging to recent species and also casts of Quaternary fossils, particularly casts of human fossils from any geographical region and time period.
The section devoted to non-human mammals includes both original skeletons of living species and cast skeletons of living and fossil species. The objective of this section is to serve as a reference collection for the study of European Pleistocene mammal fauna. Thus, the aim is to represent each species based on the skeleton of an adult individual of each gender and one or more skeletons of young individuals. New specimens are continuously incorporated to achieve this aim.
The COAC includes the Jablonsky Collection, donated to CENIEH by Professor Nina Jablonsky in 2023. The collection is composed of Primate fossil replicas, mainly Cercopithecids and some Hominid replicas. All of them add up to a total of 440 specimens.
